To review or not to review?

Has there been a book that you absolutely could not get enough of and have had no problem gushing and raving to the world about it in a review? What happens when you find yourself at the end of a book with no words to describe what you just read? If you decided not to DNF (do not finish) it and you just have no words to describe what that book left you feeling. So, the question is, to review or not to review?

As a reader, how do you read your books? For things like pure enjoyment, possibly an escape, or maybe because everyone's doing it?

If you are reading for enjoyment when a book has lost its plot, has plot holes or simply no character development, are you able to overlook those things and find that it was still a really good story that you "enjoyed" for what it was? You will most likely leave a review stating what you did like. I for one find it almost debilitating to scrounge up words for a review for a book I simply struggled to get through. Thinking about what to write for a review should not take you as long as it did to read the book? LMAO. That is just crazy. So, no. I do not review every book I have ever read.

Are you worried about the Author reading it and completely wishing you ill will, hating your guts and asking the site to take down that review? LOL. or are you normal? Lord knows I have not experienced that wrath of an Author who is not here for your review but some of you have. Does that sway your decision on how you move forward with reviews? THAT'S some scurry shit. Well not that kind of scary though.

So, how do you decide what is worth reviewing and what is not? For me I leave reviews when the words on the pages leave me on a book high. 4 or 5 stars across the board. Those are the easiest to write and I find are the most truthful. Other readers sometimes gravitate to those reviews in order to choose their next read. When will I not review a book? When I close a book feeling disgruntled. You will find yourself writing a review that is full of words pulling the book apart and stating what you did not like, and it has gone to show some Authors simply won't rest when there are reviews like that about their work. I get it. But not every reader sympathizes with that feeling.

An honest review can be either positive or negative. It is your feelings and no one else on a book you read. But are you a little too honest sometimes, or not honest enough?

Tell me this, do you never leave a review at all? LOL... Is that staying neutral somehow? Or do you leave a review for every book you have ever read, good or bad? So many questions!!

Let's not forget ARC (Advance Readers Copy) reviews. The pressure no one speaks of when given an ARC and it's time to actually review the book. (Are you sweating because I'm sweating). An advanced readers copy in exchange for an honest review. You didn't quite like the book but you kind of have to review it, are you being honest or disappearing? LOL. Is this the Game of Thrones, good lord! Review the book or die a slow and gruesome death me lady.

But with all that said, to review or not to review? How do you decide? Let me know!
