Ciera: Are you partial to Holiday themed books or non-themed books?
Kyeate: Holiday-themed books are my favorite writes. I'm really big on Halloween and Christmas so I love the creative process that comes to mind when creating those. Even though I also bring paranormal into some of my non-themed books.
Ciera: What is your kryptonite as a writer?
Kyeate: Producing long books and I will tie that into focusing. I lose focus quickly so even if I start out telling myself this book will be a long book it rarely happens. To me my story takes a shift and I'm watering things down to expand. I don't like that.
Ciera: What was your hardest scene to write, and why?
Kyeate: I initially didn't have the baby sister Mona come back but I honestly didn't want the sisters to deal with losing her. This book is supposed to be fun and spooky so there really wasn't too many hard scenes to write due to those changes I made. If I'm being real, the hardest thing to write was the spells I had to create a language, so I don't know what I was saying. *laughing*
Ciera: Do you get writer's block in the middle of a project? How do you come out of it?
Kyeate: Yes if it's something that I'm excited to release, I try to refocus and pull back from it, especially if I'm trying to stay on schedule. Sometimes I will start another project altogether. I have been working on projects and writer's block kicked in because I'm ready to start something else that has popped up in my head.
Ciera: If you were to write a spin-off about a side character, which would you pick?
Kyeate: This book actually does have a spin-off coming and all the characters that are introduced in this book will be in High Power Coven. My favorite characters because I fell in love with two, are Isis Kastleton and War Sutton.
Ciera: One song to describe this book, what would it be?
Kyeate: One song that immediately comes to mind is Frequency by Jhene' Aiko. I know it isn't scary, but The Kastleton Sisters are on a different wave of modern good witches. This book just brought out a side of them because they had to protect what they loved.
