Now let's get int this rant.
You rarely ever find books that immediately stick with you. I started off reading this book slowly. For some odd reason I didn't feel the need to devour it immediately. The Prologue was an amazing opener, as I continued to read I had more questions than a little bit. I immediately felt like there's no way this is real. How is she there right now, getting her sister out of jail? How? How is this happening?
But then I continued to read, and of course when you put yourself in the characters shoes you begin to really catch the not so loud but super subtle hints on what could possibly be
going on .... Bijou seemed to really be on the run and having a hard time, but her sister was the hot head. Rumi was such a mess that she left me antsy, but I couldn't grasp how Bijou was the one in trouble, but Rumi seemed to be the one who would cause all the drama. Dominique did such a fantastic job at keeping you so wrapped up in Bijou trying to appear normal that nothing ever seemed out of place until Bijou's literal breakdown on page.
And that fucking break down, had me breaking down... but back to Lyfe. He made my heart pound because all he literally wanted was Bijou, he could sense that something was off, and he was willing to go through the after math with her. WHAT A FUCKING MAN!!!!!!!!
Its midnight and all I can think about is how the last 20 percent had my heart in my throat and tears in my eyes (I'm a cry baby but that's my business)
The moment I think Lyfe is about to make a way out of no way for Bijou who is quite literally suffering, I got my heart stepped on. Lyfe shedding tears and being stunned to silence. I felt that!!!!!!!!
I called it mid-way through the book that Bijou was suffering from something much deeper than being on the run. The ending absolutely crushed me... 92% wasn't good enough to have me crying you had to drag it to 100%. What an amazing, 5 stars read!
Dear Dominique Thomas if you ever feel like a story is out of your reach, you may have not delivered the way you think you could have, or the story may have not been up to par. YOU BANISH THOSE NEGATIVE THOUGHTS RIGHT NOW!!!! YOU DID THAT AND THEN SOME .... kudos to you. we appreciate your pen. and this five-star read will be one I recommend until I'm blue in the face. My Mind was Blown!
